Coventry - Joyce M. Gamble, 83, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Coventry Center. She was the beloved wife of Richard H. Gamble.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Howard G. and Marion R. (Chappel) Davis, she graduated from Cranston High School and had lived in Coventry for the past 43 years.
Joyce worked at several area banks for 23 years, 10 years of which she spent as a teller. She later worked for three years as an office clerk at the Sears Distribution Center in North Kingstown retiring in 1990.
She was a member of Maple Root Baptist Church, Coventry and a former member of Riverpoint Advent Christian Church, West Warwick. She was a member and former treasurer of Women's Aglow Fellowship and for several years served as a Girl Scout Leader.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: David C. Gamble of Germany, Steven R. Gamble of Raeford, NC, Timothy C. Gamble of Round Rock, TX and Ruth M. Bell of Collins, NY; one brother: Charles H. Davis of Harrisonburg, VA; sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, April 17 at 8:00 pm at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours prior to the service from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Burial in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter will be private.
A memorial service will be held in August at Maple Root Baptist Church, date and time to be announced. Relatives and friends are invited.
