Ethel H. E. Griffin, 85, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas M. Griffin Jr. and the beloved mother of Nancy and Robin.
Born and raised in Quincy, MA, a daughter of the late Karl and Elin (Olson) Gronberg, she lived in Cumberland for more than 50 years. Working as a bank teller in Quincy, she was the first teller to serve in the bank's new drive-up window.

She had a loving heart for her husband and was incredibly proud of the two daughters that they raised together. She enjoyed spending time with her family, always looking forward to their next trip to New Hampshire or Maine. She enjoyed shopping and dining out with family and visiting her daughters frequently. Her grandchildren remember playing games and doing puzzles with her. She was very close with her siblings and spent many weekends with them. She loved animals, especially cats and birds and her dog, Mickey.

She was devoted to her family and loved by many. She is survived by her daughters: Nancy E. Dansereau & her husband William of East Greenwich and Robin J. Cataldo of Plainville, MA and by her five grandchildren: Lindsay Gammell (husband Kyle), Katie Dansereau (fiancé Tim), Michael Cataldo, William Dansereau Jr. and Ryan Cataldo and her grandpup, Plato. She was the sister of the late Elsie Quinn, Mildred McLeod and Harry Gronberg. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, February 20 at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours will be from 10:30 - 12:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 12 noon. Interment will be private and held at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
