Cumberland – Donald J. Nasif, Esq., 71, of Torrey Road, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Jeanne M. (Mongillo) Nasif. Mr. and Mrs. Nasif celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on October 3, 2011.
Born in Boston, MA he was the son of the late Charles and Helen (McCormack) Nasif. He was a graduate of Bordentown (NJ) Military Institute; he attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO; he received his undergraduate degree from Parks College of Aeronautical Technology in East St. Louis, IL; a master's degree in finance from St. Louis University and his jurist doctorate degree from Suffolk Law School. After graduating and being admitted to the bar in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, Mr. Nasif maintained a private law practice.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, US Army Major George G. Nasif (currently stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan) and his wife Erin of Peyton, CO; two daughters, Sarah H. Sturm, whose husband is Justin, of North Kingstown and Bethany A. Nasif of Cumberland and was "Papa" to four grandchildren, Adam, Zachary and Lindsey Nasif and Jake Sturm.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 10:30 - 11:30 AM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick followed by a prayer service in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Burial will follow. Donations in his memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
