Anne Vallely, a resident of East Greenwich for 50 years, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 8. She was the dearly beloved wife of Arthur Vallely to whom she was married almost 60 years.
Anne was born in Cambridge, MA and was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Lewis) Kirkpatrick. Anne graduated from Cambridge High and Latin high school and from Simmons College, as a registered physical therapist. She began her career at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston and later worked for the Kent County Visiting Nurse Association in Rhode Island for 21 years. After retiring from the VNA, she worked for many years at Our Lady of Mercy School's extended day program in East Greenwich. She was also a volunteer coordinator for Meals on Wheels and an IRS Tax Volunteer for the elderly for numerous years.
Anne loved visiting Ireland, vacationing on the Cape in Falmouth in the summer, gardening, cooking, playing solitaire, watching every episode of Law & Order and Jeopardy, doing crossword puzzles, her dogs and most of all spending time with her family. Anne's strong opinions (from Trump to Tom Brady) plus her sarcasm and quick wit will truly be missed.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her four children: Arthur Vallely Jr. and his wife Judy; Paul Vallely and his wife Lindsay; Sarah Vallely and her fiancé David Eldredge and Bridget Vallely. She was the beloved Nana to Danielle, Nicole, Brandi, Madison, Mackenzie and Abigail Vallely. She is also survived by her brother Ed Kirkpatrick and his wife Kathy; her sister-in-law Marcia Kirkpatrick and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Joan Salvatore and her brother Charles Kirkpatrick.
Her life will be celebrated at calling hours on Monday, March 13 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, March 14 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Avenue, East Greenwich, RI. Burial will be in East Greenwich Cemetery, First Avenue, East Greenwich.
